It has been told to us that Kerri's piercing career started as early as 8 years old when she dressed her brothers up in grandmas’ clip and screw on jewelry. Artistically placing this jewelry on their ears, noses, and lips her first piercing took place while accidentally screwing down a dangling jewel to her unsuspecting brother's lip so hard that it actually penetrated the skin. That marked the end of her access to grandmas’ jewelry.
Her training continued in junior high school and church camp gaining popularity and respect as the only girl able to handle “gross stuff.” Kerri added close to 50 ear piercings to her resume during this time period. Many parents were given heart attacks when their “good” kids came home from school donning hand pierced studs in their ears.
Kerri's piercing calling was moved in a different direction during her high school years so she could concentrate on bigger and better things; adorning herself. Known now as “The only chick at school with piercings”, Kerri wore her two nose rings and navel hoop with pride. This was the late 80’s early 90’s, pre MTV body piercing days.
Kerri moved to Berkeley in 1992 fresh out of high school looking to find herself and adventure. The voyage began when she dated a body piercer from Florida Ken Dean. He taught her mostly because she didn't beg as many friends would. Kerri learned quickly and practiced her skills of placement, technique, and sterilization with much enthusiasm.
Her profession at Zebra began January of 1993. Pre-piercing boom, Kerri perfected her skills with what was thought of back then as a high average of 15-20 piercings a day. Kerri had no idea that around 1995-96 piercing would hit main stream pop-culture bringing the daily piercings adverage to the 50-100 she see’s these days.
Almost 13 years later Kerri claims to have seen and done it all. She proudly boasts being on the news, radio, and news paper many times over the years. With over 150,000 piercings under her belt, she cannot travel anywhere in the world without someone asking her “didn't you pierce my….? “. Kerri enjoys piercing just as much as she did when she was 13 claiming it is in her blood. If experience, a good bedside manner, perfection, a smile, and patience is what you desire from your piercer, look no further you have found a perfect match. Come down to Zebra on any Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday and let Kerri work her magic!
In addition to body piercing, Kerri also has been performing the precise art of permanent make-up (tattoo). She began tattooing eyebrows, eyeliner and beauty marks in 2000 to give all her customers someone they would know and could trust. Come in for a consultation and ask her about her below market prices.
When Kerri's not piercing you may see her promoting her clothing line, bellydancing, practicing yoga, reading the latest “make money from real estate” book, kissing her Chihuahua Rosa, choreographing kitchy tease-o-rific burlesque routines or spending time with her loving partner in crime Rick.
